The Montevallo Main Street Players (MMSP) and the Alabama Conference of Theatre (ACT) will host the Alabama Community Theatre Festival, 2009, January 9-10 at the Parnell Memorial Library Theater, 277 Park Road in Montevallo, AL.

During the festival, four community theatres will stage one hour cuttings from one of their season's productions in an adjudicated format. Two productions will be selected to advance to the regional competition at the American Association of Community Theatre Festival to be held in Birmingham in March 2009. An awards ceremony and reception will follow Saturday's final performance.

The four dramatic presentations include excerpts from “The Lady With All the Answers” by David Rambo, performed by the Community Actors Theatre of Anniston; “Once a Pond. A Time” by Roy Hudson and David McNeely, performed by the Arts Council of the Trussville Area; “Stories My Grandmother Told Me” by Ted Swindley, performed by the Wetumpka Depot Players; and “The Trip to Bountiful” by Horton Foote, performed by Theatre98 of Fairhope.

Show times are 8 p.m. on Friday and 1, 3 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Festival passes are $10 for general admission and $5 for students and include admission to all festival shows and the reception. Seating is limited and will be on a first-come, first serve basis. For more information, contact Sue Ellen Gerrells at 205-936-9162.
