Opening Gala of AIDS/Lifecycle Concert Series, Saturday, January 24th, 2009, from 7:30 to 10:00 pm, Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church, 2300 Bancroft Way, Berkeley. Benefits San Francisco AIDS Foundation; also Healing Waters, summer camping and rafting experience for youth living with HIV/AIDS. Program of local groups and performers in a variety of musical styles: classical, jazz and gospel.

Performers: 21 Flights West, jazz group; Go Van Gogh, specializing in country and Middle-Eastern sounds; East Bay Harmony, a cappella choir; and San Francisco Flute Trio (Carol Alban, Ann Licater and Nancy Tyler).

Other artists: pianist and composer Davide Verotta; Jeff Oster, horn, with Ann Licater, flute. Also tenor Carlo Delconte, baritone Steve Wedgwood, with Bob Fowler, piano; Duo Vivo (pianists Verna Lim and Valdez Hill); Broadway duets by Andrew Sherman and Wendy Frado; gospel singer Wanda Goree; jazz singer/pianist Sara Klotz de Aguilar. Members of the Young People’s Symphony Orchestra (Alex Lee, viola) and Oakland Youth Orchestra (Madison Greenstone, clarinet) will also perform. Guest Emcee is Peter Taback of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
