The Educational Alliance and East River residents Jeremy Long and Cory Herman proudly present Against All Odds, a variety showcase of performing arts to benefit The Educational Alliance’s Mazer Theater.

Long and Herman, both of show business backgrounds, have pulled together an ensemble of local talent and out-of-town special guests for this showcase:

*Seniors from the Educational Alliance’s Whittaker Center will take the stage, making their debut as tap dancers. These performers are participants of Long and Herman’s beginning tap class – a first of its kind now offered at the Educational Alliance.

*Studio Six Theater Company, the first American class to graduate from The Moscow Theater in Russia, will preview their original adaptation of Nikolai Gogol’s “Nevsky Prospect.” The play, Nevsky Prospect, is a story of unrequited love made beautiful through the eyes of a hero.

*Marguerite’s Performing Arts Team, special guests from Erie, Pennsylvania, will travel to the Lower East Side to perform athletic and adagio dance numbers. The seasoned talent of Marguerite’s Performing Arts Team has been seen around the world and showcased at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.

All funds raised will go towards the restoration of this historic Lower East Side landmark. The Mazer Theater has seen performances from such talents as Alan King, Eddie Cantor, Mark Twain, and Zero Mostel. The time is now to bring life back to this notable stage. Come support The Educational Alliance at what promises to be an eventful evening of drama, dance, and song!

Performances will be held on September 23rd, 24th and 26th.
