If you are enchanted by Afro-Cuban dances and rhythms then join us for a special full day of intensive workshops in Afro-Cuban folkloric dance, music and culture on Saturday April 18 at the Starving Artist Collective in Keene NH.

Dance classes will include Orisha dances from the Santería/Yoruba/Lucumí tradition, Bantú dances from Cuban Kongo culture, and social dances such as Rumba and Conga de Comparsa. There will also be workshops in Afro-Cuban history and culture, and an introduction to Afro-Cuban rhythm for dancers.

Dance classes will be taught by Miguel Periche (recently arrived from Holguín, Cuba), and will be accompanied by drummers from Grupo Folklórico Palo Santo playing authentic Afro-Cuban instruments and rhythms.

This full day immersion into Afro-Cuban culture is open to dancers of all different abilities and experience levels. No previous formal dance training is necessary--the only prerequisite is an interest in learning about Afro-Cuban dance, rhythm and culture.
