Kirk is an accomplished player, patient teacher and all around great guy. Not to mention that fact that he has a wealth of information about Brazilian culture. You will find no better instructor in the LA Metro area! Oh and he's on the faculty of the UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology, which is one of the most prestigious schools of its kind in the US...
Do yourself a favor and take his class at Motherland. Compared to what you'd have to pay for college tuition to enroll in UCLA, this is a great bargain!
