HYENAS by Dibril Diop Mambety

A now rich woman returns to the village that shunned her years before and she's back to get her revenge, in iconoclastic Senegalese filmmaker Djibril Diop Mambety's provocative classic film, Hyenas. He adapts a timeless parable of human greed into a biting satire of today's Africa - betraying the hopes of independence for the false promises of Western materialism, dictated by Western institutions such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.

$8/$6 MOAD and YBCA members, students, seniors
The film will be screened ONE TIME ONLY on April 11, 2007 Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Screening Room, 701 Mission at Third.
