The African American Literature Book Discussion Group will meet on Sunday, July 22, at 2 pm at the Main Library to discuss Abraham’s Well by Sharon Ewell Foster. Inspired by true events, Abraham’s Well is the story of the Black Cherokee—African Americans who walked the Trail of Tears along with native peoples during their forced removal from the southeast to Indian Territory. It tells of the courage and faith of one woman as she struggles to overcome her desperate circumstances and keep her family together. Monthly discussions led by Reader's Advisors Sue McClelland and Milcah Baraona are offered at the Main Library, 1703 Orrington Avenue in downtown Evanston. Register or call for information at 448-8620.
