The world renowned documentary on Afghanistan's version of American Idol will be shown at the EMU Student Center Auditorium on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 8p.m. This is a free event, and no tickets are required. Would you risk your life for the chance to sing? Afghan Star is the Sundance Film Festival award winning documentary on Afghanistan's version of American Idol, Afghan Pop Idol. Afghan Star isn’t just a reality show, it’s a window into the harsh realities of life in Afghanistan. For some Afghan people, voting for their favorite singer was their first encounter with any form of democracy. Who would have thought that a show like this could so dramatically change the social and political climate in Afghanistan?
