Purple Butterfly is a brooding, romantic thriller starring Zhang Ziyi (House of Flying Daggers; Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) as a member of a secret anti-Japanese terrorist organization in 1931 Shanghai. As Japan and China prepare to go to war, fated lovers from opposite sides of the conflict are doomed to face off against each other, and an innocent couple gets caught in a deadly web of secret identities, double agents, betrayal and sacrifice.
