Adventures in Radio
Lecture by Gene Doretti

Tuesday, October 23
7 p.m.
$3
Reservations: (630) 206-9566

The veteran newsman, who covered national and local news for more than 30 years on WGN radio and TV, will speak with his deep, well-modulated, classic radio-announcer’s voice, about his adventures in radio.
WGN saved him from starvation in 1960 when he was hired to flesh out the news staff. That’s where he stayed for the next 31 years.

Among other assignments, Doretti covered presidential candidates in the 1960s, and he has numerous stories to tell about John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, Hubert Humphrey, and Richard Nixon.

“Eventually, you learn that you really have to be careful about what you report. As one of my colleagues pointed out: It’s not who gets it first, it’s who gets it right first, that counts.”
