Regular meeting of the BCS "Advanced Programming Specialist Group". The meeting will begin with a short A.G.M. including a Treasurer's Report and the election of Honorary Officers for 2008-9. It will be followed by a talk.

Title: "Adding a module system to Java"

Speaker: Rok Strnisa, Cambridge University

"In this talk, we will explain through examples, why Java needs a module system. We will then describe what are the desirable properties of a module system, putting these in the context of Sun's recent proposal for the Java Module System. Finally, we will discuss the main problems with this proposal, and our suggestions for fixing them."
