AdobeUSA 2009 - 5th International Conference on Earth Architecture May 14, 2009

Sponsored by the Adobe Association of the Southwest, this conference is the only one of its kind in the United States and grew out of the Adobe Construction Program at Northern New Mexico College in El Rito, NM. Specialists from as many as 15 nations will give
presentations on earth architecture and construction. Distinguished guests will travel
45 miles northeast of Santa Fe, from Asia, Africa, Europe and from
South America. A committed and growing international community of architects, builders, conservationists, historians, geologists, environmentalists and scholars will share their experiences. Presentations will focus on:

Education and Technology Transfer
Heritage and Conservation/Preservation
Techniques, Materials and Their Properties (including Seismic and Thermal)
Earthbuilding in Contemporary Architecture

There will be a series of hands-on workshops offered in the week leading up to AdobeUSA 2009. The workshops will be organized and conducted by the Adobe Construction Department at Northern New Mexico College.
AdobeUSA 2009 is also organizing a trade fair which will take place on the main presentation days of the conference.
The trade fair will be made up of vendors, exhibitors, local adobe
contractors, educators and other companies and organizations related to
the field of earthen construction.
