U-M Institute for Human Adjustment is excited to hold a new Adjustment Matters Series Forum event!

Verbal communication skills used in today’s world require much more than just saying words clearly and using long, complex sentences with correct grammar. It requires the ability to stay on topic, elaborate new and relevant information, understand internal states of people you are talking to, interact with peer groups differently than adult groups, shift to the style of communication needed, and use and understand non-verbal communication and much more!
This presentation will review how speech-language pathologists work with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to teach these important skills that encompass social and emotional aspects of communicative interaction and are necessary for maximizing a meaningful social life.
