Florens-Luis Heidsieck, the son of a Lutheran minister, starting making wine in 1780 and through dedication and hard work was able to set up his own house in July of 1785. After his death in 1828 the business was taken over by his nephew Christian Heidsieck and his cousin Henri Guilaume Piper to form the Piper-Heidsieck Champagne house. Piper-Heidsieck Champagne has been associated with fame and fortune throughout the House’s existence. During the 19th century fourteen Royal and Imperial courts made the House their official supplier and in the modern day, Piper-Heidsieck is the official Champagne of the Cannes film festival and the Oscars.
