Actor, Singer and Winemaker Gianni Russo At Wave Restaurant & Lounge December 17, 2009

American actor, singer and winemaker Gianni Russo will make a special appearance at Wave Restaurant & Lounge at Danfords Hotel & Marina on Thursday, December 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. Russo, who is best known for his role in The Godfather as Carlo Rizzi, Don Corleone’s wife-beating/double-crossing son-in-law, is also an accomplished singer and will perform with piano accompaniment as well as discuss his “Il Padrino” wine collection. Wine samplings will be served during the special event and “Il Padrino” wines will be available for purchase. The following wines from the collection will be offered in the lounge and restaurant throughout the whole month of December:

MONTEPULCIANO D'ABRUZZO 

Made from an intense red Montepulciano grape from the famed Abruzzo region of Tuscany, Italy. It has a fruity and floral scent with a taste of violets, raspberry and cherry with soft supple tannins. Pairs well with cheeses, pasta, meat and game.

PINOT GRIGIO DELLE VENEZIE 

Made from Pinot Grigio grapes grown in the Veneto region. This wine offers a dry, pleasantly fresh and velvety taste with a long-lasting finish. It is excellent as an aperitif and is recommended with pasta, warm or cold light appetizers, fish and white meats.

MERLOT VENETO 

Made from Merlot grapes grown in Veneto region. It offers an intense and elegant aroma with scents of berries and velvety, round and full-bodied flavour with hints of green pepper. Ideal for all dishes and is a perfect accompaniment to pasta dishes, white and red meat and mature cheese.
