Action Film Series: A Stone's Throw with Panel Presentation and Live Band

Arusha’s Action Film Series Presents:
Is it okay to break the law for social justice?Arusha Action Film explores Civil Disobedience

Just last week a Calgary environmental activist was sentenced to 30 days in jail for throwing a pie in the mayor’s face as a political statement. For decades activists have turned to civil disobedience in various ways to fight for their cause.

Arusha’s February Action Film explores the legitimacy of these methods in the award winning feature film A Stone’s Throw, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion involving three seasoned activists. The topic is The Law and the Justice Movement: the insider’s perspective.

In light of the pressing environmental and social justice issues facing Albertans, this is a timely event and an important conversation that engaged citizens will find critical in their ongoing work to build constructive actions that bring about real change.

Our panel includes:
Allison Russell, LLB Courtney Sebree Arbo
Gordon Christie, Calgary District Labour Council
Mike Hudema, GreenPeace

Please come to add your voice to the dialogue.
