Set in a conservative Midwestern town in1927, Act a Lady follows the bucolic misadventures of three common men who decide to mount an 18th century period play for charity, only to have their personal and world views forever altered. Hoop-skirted and wigged, the three earnest thespians discover that while sartorial choices may indeed make the man, said choices can also complicate their relationships with women, other men, and the local Women’s Temperance Society. Part fashion review, part show-with-in-a-show, part iconic meeting of highbrow interaction with lowbrow pragmatism, Seattle native Jordan Harrison's Act a Lady was the comic hit of the 2006 Humana Festival of New Plays.

A preview on Thursday, January 15th is an opportunity for the adventuresome theatergoer to participate in Theater Schmeater’s Theater Adventure Reward Program (TARP – the feds stole our acronym —but we have accountability!). By attending this Thursday evening preview of Act a Lady, each audience member will receive One Dollar! This offer is limited to “first-come, first-served” at the box office (no reservations), and the box office will open at 7:30 p.m. Theater Schmeater is offering this program in an effort to encourage dedicated theatergoers who thrill at the excitement and occasional danger of being in an audience for a production’s initial public performance.
