Since the late 1980s, Richard and Pamela Kramlich have amassed more than 200 pieces of video and new media and developed what has become one of the largest private collections focusing on new media. Their collection mixes historical pieces with contemporary and includes artists such as Vito Acconci, Matthew Barney, Dara Birnbaum, Stan Douglas, Marcel Broodthaers, Steve McQueen, Dan Graham, Mariko Mori, Keith Tyson, and Jeff Wall. In 1997 at Tate Research, the Kramlich’s established the New Art Trust, San Francisco to be dedicated to the scholarship and preservation of time-based media works.
