Featuring Dobet Gnahore, Kareyce Fotso, and Manou Gallo

After worldwide critical and commercial success in 2006 and 2011, the third installment of International Music Network's exhilarating journey focuses on the richness of the African traditions of the voice and the song. For the first time, rising women vocalists of Africa are showcased in the ongoing journey of Acoustic Africa.

This event features Grammy-winning vocalist and dancer extraordinaire Dobet Gnahore of Ivory Coast, a major star of world music; Zap Mama singer, bassist, and drummer Manou Gallo, also from the Ivory Coast, who grooves together the rhythms of West Africa with funk and R&B; and Kareyce Fotso, a young singer from Cameroon - her music is a haunting and soulful blend of Afropop, blues, and traditional African music.

The title "Afropean Woman" refers to the strong ties and mutual cultural influences between the nations in Northern Africa (Mali, Ivory Coast, Cameroon) and Europe. The women of Acoustic Africa embody, as well as inhabit, this cross-cultural realm between their respective home countries and their lives in Europe. This project is a celebration of "African-European" culture with particular focus on the experience of the African-European woman or, "Afropean Woman."
