This course aims to improve candidates’ Islamic counselling skills, for those working in a counselling role, whilst providing an introduction to essential islamic counselling theory - nafsiyat - the science of the self.

Research shows the importance of spirituality in people's well-being, and accredited Islamic Counselling has now been established since 1996. This course also aims to provide a safe environment for personal development since it is by knowing oneself that you can find deeper understandings of self and others. This course also aims to raise awareness of professional issues in the use of counselling skills.

The course is particularly suited to those who have embarked on a career in counselling, or are seeking to enhance the use of counselling skills e.g. Nurses, Social Workers.

For entry on level 3, you should have already gained the Counselling Skills Level 2 certificate or equivalent.

Entry is by application form. Fees can be paid in instalments.

Acquire, practise and develop counselling skills*
Understand essential counselling theory*
Understand professional issues*
Develop self awareness and self understanding*
Understand the contextual framework for counselling practice*

The course is participative and experiential. You will take part in group discussions, small group work and role-play. The sessions are not in formal lecture style. Some reading will be required outside of sessions.

You will be expected to complete some written work and research outside the classroom, and you should allocate between three and four hours a week for this.
