ProArteDanza, winner of the 2011 Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Choreography, presents Season 2011, a wonderful programme that draws on both classical ballet and contemporary dance. The evening features a world premiere from The National Ballet of Canada’s Guillaume Côté, North American premieres from ProArteDanza's Artistic Associate Robert Glumbek and Kevin O’Day of Mannheim Ballet, and a Toronto premiere of a work by ProArteDanza's Artistic Director Roberto Campanella. Blending beauty and all-out athleticism as part of Harbourfront Centre’s NextSteps, Season 2011 runs October 5-8 at Fleck Dance Theatre.
Some of Toronto’s hottest, high-octane contemporary dancers – Johanna Bergfeldt, Valerie Calam, Marc Cardarelli, Tyler Gledhill, Louis Laberge-Côté, Ryan Lee, Marissa Parzei, and Brendan Wyatt – are set to take the stage in Season 2011. Mami Hata joins the company from Kevin O’Day’s Mannheim Ballet, adding to the talented ensemble.
Season 2011 showcases the world premiere of Guillaume Côté’s ensemble piece Fractals, and the Toronto premiere of Roberto Campanella’s en parallel, performed by Tyler Gledhill and Marissa Parzei. Robert Glumbek’s Verwoben performed by Marc Cardarelli, Mami Hata, and Brendan Wyatt and Kevin O’Day’s Pearline featuring Mama Hata and Louis Laberge-Côté are also set to make their North American premiere’s in Season 2011.
