Acclaimed Fiction Author and Screenwriter Allison Burnett Reads From His Latest Novel, Undiscovered Gyrl August 12, 2009

: Acclaimed author and screenwriter Allison Burnett reads from his latest novel, Undiscovered Gyrl (Vintage Books), and takes questions from the audience. An epistolary novel for the 21st Century, Undiscovered Gyrl is the tale of Katie Kampenfelt, a beautiful, wild, funny, lost teenage girl. Her story is told in blog entries that chronicle her life as it spirals out of control. Burnett’s novel Christopher was a finalist for the Pen Center USA Literary Award. His screenwriting credits include Autumn in New York, Resurrecting the Champ and Untraceable. He also wrote MGM’s remake of Fame to be released this fall.

Celebrity readers scheduled to give voice to Katie include Kay Panabaker, star of Fame and Amanda Righetti of The Mentalist and Friday the 13th. Celebrity guests to include the director and cast members of Fame. The event will take place at Frank Pictures Gallery at Bergamot Station. Copies of Undiscovered Gyrl will be sold at the event by Book Soup.
