Visual Aid artist Suzanne Olmsted is a print maker and Associate Professor of Printmaking at the San Francisco Art Institute. She is especially interested in working with a printing press, explains that the act of crushing the ink onto the paper is very similar to her daily full body crushing pain.

She asks that the viewer try to imagine the space between the body and mind. Translating the optical, visceral, and kinetic aspects of one's being has been her goal throughout this work. The work grouped together and titled collectively Accept-Stance / Dis Embodyment is her attempt to face her physical condition head on. Art is often defined as that which transforms. Olmsted's goal has been to transform her condition into beauty rather than the distance it has created between her body and mind.
