Abingdon Station Armed Forces Open day July 4, 2009

This family orientated community style event has been orgainized in conjunction with the Vale of the White Horse and Abingdon Town councils. The intent is to engage with the local community in a fete style event consisting of a series of miitary displays from all regional units and local community organizations around Abingdon. it will include the RLC Motor Cycle display team, the Silver Stars RLC Freefall Parachute display team and the band of the 7 Rifles.
Refreshments are available and fair ground attractions, go carting, paint balling, and bouncy castles are avaialble to entertain young and old alike.
All are welcome although children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs are otehr pets are permitted within the arena site.
Admission is free although collection boxes will be situated at access and egress points for personnel to make a personal contribution towards the Army Benevolant Fund and Help 4 Heroes Charities.
The event wil be held on the sports pitches directly outside Dalton Barracks main gate.
Controlled, secure parking will be available on Shippon Airfield. This car parking area will be signed from all major routes and is a short 500 metre walk from the main event entrance. A shuttle service for disabled personnel will be available.
Car park and event gates open from 1000 hours. First event commences 1100 hours with the last event scheduled to finish at 1700 hours.
