ABD Productions and CounterPULSE proudly present the premiere of GOIN' GAGA and Other Dances. GOIN' GAGA: Musings on Street Queer and Bad Romancing by a Post Modern Romantic Middle-aged Jewish Lesbian Mother and her Spiritually Trans-gendered Dance Daughters was inspired by an intergenerational dialogue among queer artists about the ascendance of queer and the concomitant decline of feminism. Through music, dance, text and a little body paint, Goin' Gaga functions as a powerful critique of the sexualization of popular culture, while also building a bridge to the young women who embrace that culture.

Also on the program is the unveiling ABD's YEAR OF GUERILLA ART: 50 Random Acts of Dance. For the past year and a half, ABD has created spontaneous site-specific dances and performed them on a weekly basis around San Francisco. The company selects a site, arrives inconspicuously, performs, and leaves. The piece will include video footage, narrative text, as well as live music and dance performance celebrating this officially unseen work.

Rounding off this exciting evening of dance are excerpts of Daughters Untold, a community-based project about gender violence featuring the passionate solo performance of Chin-chin Hsu embedded in subtle and heartfelt ensemble choreography.

Anne Bluethenthal and Dancers create dances that grow from deep investigations into the language of movement and use that language in eloquent and subversive acts of art. Celebrating 26 years of multi-cultural, feminist modern dance, Bluethenthal's work endeavors to awaken our basic humanity through bold and nuanced choreographies, injecting the possibility of transformation and beauty to even the most difficult subjects from globalization and genocide, to global warming and gender fluidity.
