Aakara Wiegand is a self taught artist and creative imaginer living in Carrboro, North Carolina. Prior to settling in North Carolina, Aakara traveled widely throughout Thailand, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. Her work embodies a spiritual presence that has been influenced from the many temples she visited, the local presence of the villages she lived within and the extraordinary people she met along this journey. Exposing an inner prosperity and mythical dance she paints from her heart and soul. She is very aware of the growing consciousness on our planet and creates visual art as a means to further the expansion of mind and body. As an abstract artist Aakara uses acrylic paint and marker to produce the fluid like action she want to speak through a visual experience. All paintings vary in shape and size depending upon the !canvas' itself. Using materials that have already served a purpose, Aakara chooses to paint upon recycled wood, glass, windows and doors.
