Experience a musical performance like never before! Join us for this unique event combining the thrilling visual experience of a planetarium show with a distinctive live concert. The Almeda Trio will perform an eclectic mix under the stars and stunning imagery of the Shafran Planetarium's Leonard Krieger Visual Effects System.
Mixing music with science, the event will begin with brief remarks on the science behind the winter solstice. The concert will appeal to those with broad musical tastes, with selections ranging from classical (Vivaldi's "Winter" from his Four Seasons) to jazz (Dave Brubeck's Quiet as the Moon), from modern (Jennifer Higdon's Fiery Red and Pale Yellow) to progressive rock (Overture 2112 by Canadian rock bank Rush). The performance will include the premiere of Pulsar by Eden Rayz, Cleveland native and Berklee School of Music student composer.
The Almeda Trio is an ensemble-in-residence at The Music Settlement in Cleveland. Members are: Cara Tweed, violin; Ida Mercer, cello; Robert Cassidy, piano.
Don't miss this multimedia event! Seating is limited, so reserve your $20 tickets soon.
