On February 25, 2009, join Canada’s business, social and community leaders as they continue the year-long celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday. Thus far in 2008, we have seen the world unite and rejoice in honour of Nelson Mandela’s birthday, his amazing life journey, and his many contributions to humanity as a whole.

2008 also marks the 10th anniversary of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund (Canada). Back in 1998, during the official launch of the NMCF (Canada), before 40,000 students, Nelson Mandela reflected on the importance of children and youth, as well as described Canada as a “loyal friend and ally of the South African people” dating back to the days of apartheid.

The gala dinner will be hosted by Suhana Meharchand, news anchor and host on CBC Television, feature a keynote address by Charlayne Hunter-Gault - one of television’s premier journalists, an exquisitely prepared dinner, musical entertainment by Lorraine Klaasen – her fans call her the African Queen, and live/silent auctions.

The NMCF (Canada) exists to build and sustain the legacy of Nelson Mandela in Canada, which is to change the way in which society treats its children and youth. For more information visit: www.mandela-children.ca.
