What do a single mother, a renowned survivalist, and Hawaii’s most revered woman kayaker have in common? They are all titles held by one Audrey Sutherland. Audrey has paddled over 12,000 nautical miles from the rivers of France to the oceans of Chile, Greece, and Hawaii. All of this while raising four children, cooking delicious meals (minus modern conventions), and all by herself.

In her latest book “Paddling North” from Patagonia Books, Audrey recounts her most harrowing journey ever—her 1981 trek along the Alaskan coast in a 9-foot inflatable kayak. She was 60 at the time. Audrey recalls life along the wild inland as she relied on nature and the water to survive during her journey. She is an incredible example of self-sufficiency and perseverance.

Now at the young age of 92, Audrey is inviting guests to share a moment of fellowship and recollection as she reads stories from “Paddling North.” The book will be available for sale and signing, and refreshments will be served. Guests are sure to walk away inspired to pursue their dreams and desires. Audrey didn’t wait for anyone, and neither should you.
