A Symphony of New Works - Artworks by Kamar Alam. Nitanjali Art Gallery presents a solo exhibition of the Delhi-based artist Kamar Alam. Kamar Alam was born in Moussourie, and has featured in numerous group shows in India and abroad. Nitanjali has worked with him for four years. He graduated from the Delhi College of Arts, and received his master's degree in fine arts from the Lalit Kala Sansthan in Agra . Inherent in these new works is a departure from the artist's earlier detailed sinews and neural elements of the body. These 'shapes' which are integral parts of the composition resemble Mark Rothko's colour squares and rectangles. Breaking all religious boundaries, kamar Alam projects art in its real and true form i.e. a complete depiction of faith and emotions. This new corpus of work includes a depiction of Christ upon the cross. Inspired by the Passion which is the Christian theological term used for the events and suffering physical, spiritual, and mental of Jesus in the hours before and including his trial and execution by crucifixion., the central figure suspends below a golden ochre rectangle of impasto-like texture with a extended line. Jesus is for Kamar a symbol of the power of believing in you. He is an inspiration to Kamar in the ways that if you have faith in yourself & your thoughts you can mold the world around you. Persistence, patience & determination, humbleness & acumen (intelligence & wisdom), respect and love for elder, fellow and the younger beings, care for invaluable things (material or non-material), innovating and eyes totally focused on the goals to achieve are the personal aspects that Kamar has as an individual and artist. Life has thrown many challenges in his way. Starting from his education, his finances to his venture to establish his work in this competitive art market, to his balanced approach to our marriage and other important decisions, his creative endeavor has been a reflection of all this.
