This exhibition explores in detail William Morris Hunt's monumental painting 'Niagara Falls' (1878) in the museum's collection. Originally conceived for the State Capitol in Albany, Hunt's 'Niagara Falls' is presented along with studies in oil, pastel and charcoal that show the falls from different perspectives. The exhibition examines both the artistic and cultural context in which the picture was produced through paintings, drawings, photographs, films, rare books and souvenirs.
