A Story... exhibition, guest artist Mardi Wood at High Desert Gallery February 17, 2012

High Desert Gallery is excited to announce guest artist, Mardi Wood, February 17 to April 11, 2012. “A Story..”, exhibition is featured at High Desert Gallery, 10 NW Minnesota Avenue at The Oxford Hotel in downtown Bend, Oregon.  

Mardi Wood's ceramic work is the result of a process developed over many years of making. Evidence of the artist's hands can be felt in her paper-thin cups and bowls. The balance and subtle weight of each piece have been created by fine adjustments made at every step of construction. Inspired by her roots in the Northwest and her family home on the Columbia River, Woods' vessels are painted with layers of glaze and oxides built up during repeated firings.
Woods now lives in Northern California, and has a second residence in Italy. Images of Maremmana cattle, drawn from the Italian landscape, often appear in her recent work.
