A Sense of Place: Art Exhibit Opening Reception May 7, 2011

Opening Reception Sat, May 7, 6-9pm; exhibit runs May 2 - 21, 2011

Wikipedia defines "a sense of place" as those characteristics that make a place special or unique, as well as those places that foster a sense of authentic human attachment and belonging. "A Sense of Place" exhibits a wide variety of works that interpret this theme by 41 artist members of the Northern California Women's Caucus for Art. The artists are:

Vejby, Karen Gutfreund, April Hankins, Jain Hutzell, Joanna Katz, Tracey Kessler, Katherine Kodama, Susan Kraft, Barbara Lambert, Susan Liroff, Patricia Martini, Gale McKee, Simin Meykadeh, Leslie Morgan, Priscilla Otani, Helen Poole Newman, Nora Raggio, Sally Ruddy, Shizue Seigel, Judi Shintani, Anne Shulenberger, Yuriko Takata, Tanya Wilkinson, Carol Witten, Nancy Worthington, Vera Ximenes, Joanne Yeaton, and Carolyn Zaroff.

Come to the opening reception and meet many of the NCWCA artists in the exhibition.

Also join us at Arc Gallery on May 15 at 2:30 pm for a panel discussion, "Censoring Women's Art: Why Should Women Care?" and a pop-up exhibition, "Censorship: The Artists' Dialog" curated by Deborah Mills Thackrey.

And don't miss the closing reception and artists' talk at Arc Gallery on May 21 from 2:00-4:00 pm.
