“If you had a place of your own, what would it be?”

Throughout the month of January, ten prominent Asian-American artists will be in residence at the Kimball Gallery, creating 3-D art installations that reflect their answers to the search for ‘place’. The artists will be working with a variety of media –sculptures, drawings, paintings, photography, and mixed media.

AAWAA invites visitors to bring a collection of favorite items, small enough to fit into a bread box, to the Kimball Gallery and the residency artists will provide guidance about making a place of one’s own.

AAWAA artists will be working onsite at the Kimball Gallery during regular museum hours. In addition to the residency in the Kimball Gallery, AAWAA will present two events. “Cheers to Muses” is a reading from the AAWAA anthology of the same name by the authors (Sunday, January 25, 1-3 pm at the Koret Auditorium, book signing to follow in the Kimball Gallery). And on Friday, January 30 from 6 – 8:30pm, AAWAA will celebrate their residency with a Closing Reception with live music played by DU UY Septet led by Danny Cao. Light refreshments will be served.
