Capoeira Angola Quintal and Afro Brazil Arts are hosting A Night in Bahia, Brazil at Opus 22, to benefit the Afro Brazil Arts Capoeira Leadership School Program where NYC youth learn leadership through capoeira! Capoeira is an acrobatic martial art developed by African slaves in Brazil. The game of capoeira is played to traditional music of the berimbau, pandeiro, and atabaque. Capoeira Angola Quintal teaches and performs capoeira and other Brazilian dances, since 1988. Michael Goldstein, also known as Mestre Ombrinho, is the founder and Executive Director of Afro Brazil Arts and Capoeira Angola Quintal. Mestre Ombrinho is the first North American Capoeira Master with over 25 years experience practicing capoeira in Brazil, the US, Europe, and Israel.

Third Thursdays is a benefit for Afro Brazil Arts, a non-profit arts education organization, inspiring achievement, leadership, and community through capoeira workshops and performances. Founded in 1991, Afro Brazil Arts works in schools throughout the New York Area creating cultural arts programming accessible for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
