Written in 1998, 'A New Brain' is William Finn's semi-autobiographical account of his own battle for life when confronted with a seemingly terminal illness. As the central character, Gordon Michael Schwinn (a name-rhyming and career-paralleling alter ego for Finn) struggles to survive, he finds salvation in the healing power of art.
