The House of Bernarda Alba
By Federico García Lorca, Adapted by Emily Mann
presented by Constellation Theatre Company
Following her husband’s funeral, powerful matriarch Bernarda Alba decrees to her five daughters that the household will enter a period of eight years of mourning. Jealousy, suppressed sexuality, sisterly love and back-biting brew as the 5 daughters resist this curse of certain spinsterhood and compete for the only viable suitor, the fiancé of the eldest daughter, Angustias.
Gillian Drake directs an all-female cast featuring Valerie Leonard as Bernarda Alba.
Free performance. No reservations required. Seating on a first come, first served basis. Doors open at 6:30pm.
