The city of Denver and the Rocky Mountain News will both celebrate their 150th anniversaries within the year. In order to commemorate the occasion and to recognize the rich cultural heritage of the city, the News has commissioned eleven Colorado novelists to write a series of short stories for the newspaper. 'A Dozen on Denver: Stories to celebrate the city at 150' will showcase these authors, each writing an original piece that explores, in some way, Denver's extraordinary history, using the legendary Larimer Street as a common thread. The twelfth Colorado author, writing about the future, will be selected from an open competition with the winner announced at the end of the series. The stories are being published, once a week, in both print and online formats of the Rocky Mountain News. The series will conclude with a combined-story supplement and a festive celebration, open to the public, with the authors in attendance.
