“A Day in Black for the Arts” has been started by a group of artist in Quebec. On October 10th, 2008 they are encouraging people to “take a stand for the arts” by wearing black for the day.
We have decided to take this one step further…

On October 6th, the day in which we have chosen to create public awareness, we are creating a grave yard in front of City Hall. Tomb stones will be set up throughout the day. We are inviting artists to come down, wear black, and if they wish, lie on the steps of city hall at the base of a tomb. This is meant to be a silent protest, one that will evoke awareness though a strong visual representation of the impact Steven Harper’s actions are having on our country. We will also be distributing information on the arts cuts and promoting the Anything But Conservative. Signs will be provided, but feel free to make your own! And, of course, be CREATIVE!
