Ian Buruma and Richard Wolin will discuss the current tension between the religious and the secular in contemporary Europe. Ian Buruma is Henry R. Luce Professor of Human Rights, Democracy, and New Media at Bard College. His most recent book is Murder in Amsterdam: The Death of Theo van Gogh and the Limits of Tolerance. Richard Wolin is Distinguished Professor of History at the Graduate Center, CUNY. His books include The Frankfurt School Revisited: And Other Essays on Politics and Society and The Seduction of Unreason: The Intellectual Romance with Fascism from Nietzsche to Postmodernism.
