For Immediate Release: Asbury Park, NJ, October 6, 2009 …….. The Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County and the Asbury Park Press will present a Holiday Benefit Concert, “A Christmas Gift for You,” on Thursday, December 17 at 8 pm at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank featuring Ronnie Spector and Darlene Love.

Ronnie and Darlene will come together in a historic reunion to create an exciting new concert version of A Christmas Gift for You. The album, A Christmas Gift for You, is simply the all-time rock and roll holiday classic. This carefully conceived show, features the original voices of such holiday hits as “Frosty the Snowman,” “Sleigh Ride” and “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus” (Ronnie Spector), “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home),” “White Christmas” and “Winter Wonderland” (Darlene Love). In addition Ronnie and Darlene will also perform their timeless pop hits such as “Be My Baby,” “Baby I Love You,” “He’s a Rebel” and “Today I Met The Boy I’m Gonna Marry” along with their popular duet version of “Rockin Around The Christmas Tree” off the multiplatinum A Very Special Christmas 2.

The All Music Guide calls it “inarguably the greatest Christmas record of all time...the Christmas album by which all later holiday releases had to be judged.” The Rolling Stone Album Guide states, “Only Elvis Presley’s first Christmas album approaches this one in terms of melding rock with the Yuletide spirit.”

Tickets for the show are now on sale and are available by calling the Count Basie Theatre at 732.842.9000 or online at www.countbasietheatre.org. Ticket prices start at $29.50.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County, which operates two Boys and Girls clubs, one on Monroe Avenue in Asbury Park, and a new club located on Dr. James Parker Boulevard in Red Bank. The Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County provide youths, especially those who need it most, with safe havens, where kids and teens can participate in vital programs and services to enhance their development by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence. The Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County has been in operation for over 70 years, serving the Asbury Park Community with great success. Over 200 youths walk through the doors there every day. And countless lives have been positively influenced as a result.

The Boys and Girls Club of Monmouth County recently opened a brand new club on Dr. James Parker Boulevard in Red Bank. At the Red Bank location, the Club provides youths ages 6-17 with a variety of after-school and enrichment programs.
