Celebrate the warmth and seasonal magic of the 2010 holiday by spending a memorable winter's evening with the 90-member Travelers Chorale at the Bushnell.
Description
This year's concert - aptly themed I Wish You Christmas - will feature a crowd-pleasing program of seasonal favorites, reverent spirituals, Broadway Christmas favorites and holiday classics. Ken Ferris will direct and pianist Stacy Cahoon will accompany the talented group of singers.
The Chorale will perform a joyous program of seasonal favorites including unique choral arrangements of Do You Hear What I Hear, The Little Drummer Boy and The First Noël.
The talented Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble will accompany the Chorale on a number of songs, highlighted by a special performance of the glorious Hallelujah Chorus by G.F. Handel.
This will be the first time that the Chorale will be accompanied by a full brass and wind ensemble. The BBWE is directed by Richard Theriault who has been a featured soloist in the past two Travelers Chorale concerts at the Bushnell. The Wind Ensemble will also perform some of their popular seasonal pieces.
This musical performance is a terrific special event to build a tradition around. The concert is free and open to the public and parking is also available at no charge. In lieu of paid admission and as a service to the greater Hartford community, the Chorale traditionally asks audience members to bring non-perishable food items for donation to local food bank organizations.
Plan now to attend this engaging evening of musical entertainment at the 2,800-seat Mortensen Hall in the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts located at 166 Capitol Avenue in Hartford. The curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 9.
