85th Hoosier Salon Exhibition August 13, 2009

If you are looking for that perfect piece of art for your home or office, don't miss the 85th annual Hoosier Salon. Typically displayed "salon style," paintings selected by a panel of judges are hung in rows from floor to ceiling in the Indiana State Museum's third floor bridge gallery. As in past years, as many as 150 paintings and sculptures are chosen from 500 to 600 entries. Hoosier Salon is the oldest exhibition in Indiana to maintain consecutive annual exhibitions -- with no missed years! The Salon has persevered through the Great Depression, the Midwestern flood of 1937, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War and even devastation by fire. Besides being the oldest, the Hoosier Salon is also the most lucrative exhibition in the state for participating artists.
