8000 DRUMS CEREMONY

According to a sacred prophecy, Otomi elders, the day when the sounds of 8,000 Sacred Drums join together is the beginning of healing for our earth and all its living creatures. All across the world in different locations, this same ceremony will occur on this day.

8000 Drums Vancouver. You are invited to participate in the 2011 8000 Drums Ceremony, being held at Oppenheimer Park, 800 Powell Street. We gather to drum prayer songs for our people, our earth; environment; ..for all that is going throughout the world. We sing songs for peace for indigenous people all across the globe, suffering from war and genocide. We pray for our children, elders, youth and families.

A special part of our day is the blessing of the drums ceremony. A fairly new concept created especially for new drums. All the drums will be blessed.

This year promises to be the biggest one yet, as family and friends travel from the Island, from the interior, Enderby and we also will welcome our indigenous families from other nations.

All drums, pow wow, hand drums, bongo drums.. rattles..welcome.
