Garage Pop Nouveau: The Verms play exciting, short, catchy songs about things that can be described in the same way.
Dig down to learn more about your favorite Verm.

Verm Ray is AKA Earl Butter, boss of Boston and San Francisco’s immortal alt country combo The Buckets. He does all sorts of other things as well, such as writing most of the Verms’ songs, playing the trumpet, singing, and being nice to small people and medium and large people too.

It is said that Verm Joe has written over 1000 songs, many of them on a variety of subjects, and that he plays these songs in his own band. He’s a creative maverick in a variety of mediums but also knows how to play well with others, as he has demonstrated in his work with the band 86, Henry Kaiser, Loretta Lynch and many others. He is usually “too busy” to play with The Verms but it is very hard for him to stay away for long.

Verm Melanie is/was also a Bucket, and has played accordion and drums for more classic Bay Area bands than there are whiskers on a cat. She currently splits her Verms time with It Thing, Yard Sale, and Los Maharachis Sin Turbantes. Her dog stands 4 feet high at the shoulder and has a bicycle seat for a head.

Verm Mike can burn a guitar and/or uke like nobody’s business and in doing so has compelled thousands of fans to their dancing feet in his other gig leading The Shut-Ins. Mrs. Verm Mike has made an important impact on the band by increasing the flow of healthy nutrients directly to the Verms.

Verm Scotty prefers to stand far to the left so that he doesn’t hit any other Verms accidentally. He played the bass in Carrie Bradley’s pop orchestrette 100 Watt Smile and once in a while picks the steel guitar in Oakland’s The Mighty Lynch-Pins.
