The Hungarian Conference Organizing Committee has pleasure to invite and welcome you to participate in the 6th International Conference on Urban Pests (ICUP2008) to be held on 13-16 July 2008, in Budapest, Hungary.

This triennial conference offers an excellent forum for exchanging ideas and information on the biology and control of pests in urban environments. Experience of the previous years show that the event is attended by prominent entomologists, pest management and chemical professionals, university scientists and authorities from all over the world.

Previous conference venues included Cambridge, England (1993), Edinburgh, Scotland (1996) Prague, Czech Republic (1999), Charleston, USA (2002) and Singapore (2005). We are pleased to join now this illustrious list and host this remarkable event in 2008.

Budapest, the capital of Hungary is well-known for its achievement and experience in large scale urban rodent and cockroach control. The World Health Organization (WHO) cites the deratization campaign performed in the city in the early 70-ies and the subsequent maintenance activity as one of the best organised long-term rodent control programmes in the world. This creates a great environment for the people of Budapest and for tourism.

The official language of the Conference will be English and the format will include guest speakers, presented papers, posters and workshops/symposia.
