6th Annual Polar Bear Plunge January 5, 2008

On Saturday, January 5, 2008, hundreds of polar bears will start their New Year by plunging into the frigid outdoor pool at Sports*Com. Participants and spectators are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for the Murfreesboro City Schools Family Resource Center. Last years event raised over 700 pounds of food with over 300 plungers! The average water temperature hovers around 40 degrees but for the not-so-brave souls, there is the Chicken Plunge into the heated indoor pool. Plunges will commence, with Vice-Mayor Chris Bratcher as emcee, at 10:00a.m. with registration beginning at 8:15a.m. In addition to the plunges, there will be the Artic Adventure with games and activities for the whole family and the coolest costume contest. The winner, voted by the crowd, will receive a trophy.
