Brava! for Women in the Arts is pleased to present two shows with 60's teen icon, Lesley Gore.

One week after performing "It's My Party" at a friend's birthday in 1963, Lesley Gore skyrocketed to the top of the charts and to superstardom as a sixteen-year old high school student. With producer Quincy Jones, she followed with "Judy's Turn to Cry," "You Don't Own Me," "She's a Fool," "That's the Way Boys Are," and "Maybe I Know," among many others. The young Lesley set herself apart from other "Girl Groups" by writing pre-feminist anthems that would point the way for future generations of rabble-rousing female pop singers from Pat Benatar to Madonna.

With her 2005 release, "Ever Since," today's Lesley Gore is "out and proud" and sings with a voice as mature and soulful as it once was young and brash.

"Luscious-voiced....it's organic, smoky, intimate, and personal."
