The Tank is pleased to announce the fifth annual Bent Festival of hardware hacking, DIY electronics, and circuit bending – in LA April 17-19 at Grand Performances.

The term circuit bending refers to the inspired short-circuiting of battery-powered children's toys to create new musical instruments, and over the last few decades a worldwide subculture has sprung up around this amazing art form. The Bent Festival began as a celebration of circuit bending, but has quickly grown to embrace not only circuit benders but also artists who create instruments and artwork from scratch using homemade circuitry.

This year's festival continues tradition of taking the show on the road, coast to coast! Kicking off in Los Angeles at Grand Performances, Southern California's largest presenter of free performing arts programs April 17 through 19. Then, the New York the Festival will take place at DCTV (April 24 through 26), a documentary video and media community center located in a converted landmark firehouse downtown. Finally wrapping up in Minneapolis for a three-day residency at Intermedia Arts (May 1-3), Minnesota's premiere multicultural, multidisciplinary arts center.

The LA Bent Fest will host 18 artists from eight countries in a three night performance series that is absolutely FREE! Also workshops will be hosted on Friday and Saturday afternoons at nominal fees for those that are interested in getting their hands dirty or just understanding the science behind the art!

Street parking is available at Grand Performances and Zero Point. Also a shuttle service will begin after Saturday Night's performance at Grand Performances to Zero Point for the closing party!
