With his new album, The Break-In, the young and fresh Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Ari Hest builds on the soft-spoken sensibility he established with his 2004 major label debut, Someone To Tell; and sets out in new musical and lyrical directions with his new album The Break-In, recorded with veteran producer Mitchell Froom (Crowded House, Elvis Costello, Suzanne Vega, Los Lobos, among others). A productive musician and prolific songwriter, Ari writes songs weekly and tours consistently, honing tunes in front of appreciative audiences. During the two years since his major label debut, Ari produced two DIY recordings: 2005s Guilty Hearts EP and 2006s The Green Room Sessions, which he brilliantly self-produced, recording performances on every instrument using the Apple GarageBand software. Returning to New York from L.A., Ari recorded and produced two additional songs, the albums closing track, Ive Got You, which has been made available on iTunes, and So Slow, which has become a fan favorite among newer songs that Ari has performed live. His 52 Songs / 52 Weeks campaign caught the attention of a multitude of online subscribers as well as Billboard Magazine, which featured his story in 2008. Ari is sometimes surprised by the response his music draws from his audiences. People say to me that theyve learned a lot about love through my songs a funny thing because I definitely do not have it all figured out But The Break-In offers a new perspective. In the end, the predominant message is that Im going to figure this out and its going to be OK. Catch Ari Hest live and intimate as he launches BPACs 55 Underground Concert Series at Baruch College
